The Walking Dead Midseason Finale Is Lowest Rated Since Season 2

The Walking Dead’s latest esisode, “Hearts Still Beating,” was the second-lowest-rated midseason finale in the series’ history.

Had a 5.1 rating among adults 18-49,  the game is topping only the fall finale of The Walking Dead’s second season. Season 6’s midseason finale, “Start to Finish,” posted a 7.0 among the same demographic, according to TV by the Numbers.

With 10.58 million viewers, Sunday’s episode was also the least-watched midseason finale since Season 3.

After kicking off Season 7 with the series’ second-most-watched episode ever, viewership for the AMC series has declined considerably. While The Walking Dead’s viewership still dwarves that of many other shows, Season 7 has seen the fewest amount of viewers since Season 3.

The second half of The Walking Dead: Season 7 kicks off February 12. Unsurprisingly, the series has already been renewed for an eighth season.
