Sailor Moon R: The Movie Coming to U.S. Theaters

Sailor Moon R will come in January: The Movie will make its debut in theaters across the United States, VIZ Media has announced. Toei Animation and VIZ Media are partnering with Eleven Arts to screen the film in over 300 theaters.

In addition to this serving as the U.S. premiere for Sailor Moon R: The Movie, the event will also feature the debut of the Sailor Moon short, Make Up! Sailor Guardians.

There will use English dubbed screenings, as well as select showings that offer the film in Japanese with English subtitles. Advance tickets and a list of participating theaters will be available soon on Eleven Arts’ official site.

Sailor Moon R: The Movie debuted in Japan back in 1993 and tells the story of Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians’ quest to save Earth from a mysterious and dark flower that has the ability to take over planets.

The English dubbed version features the return of several cast members from the beloved anime television series, including Stephanie Sheh as Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon) and Robbie Daymond as Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask). Meanwhile, the film’s villain, Fiore, is voiced by series newcomer Ben Diskin.
