2017 MVP Named in Puppy Bowl XIII

Nikita who is an 18-week old Cocker Spaniel / Bichon Friese mix playing in her rookie year in the prestigious Puppy Bowl, has been officially named the Puppy Bowl XIII MVP. Florida’s own La Femme phenomenon locked the competition up in total isolation as part of the 2017 Starting Line-Up at this year’s Puppy Bowl.

Once again, the 13th year of Puppy Bowl play pitted the underdog Team Fluff against two-time chomp’ions, Team Ruff, which was a doo-doo or die game for the Fluff team, after losing the highest-scoring Puppy Bowl in history in 2015 and then again getting muzzled in a 70 to 44 ruff game last year. Fans were ready to chant “flee-peat” and rub the Fluff’s noses in yet another loss … but doggonit, the Fluff team refused to bark down!

The top dog of the game and this year’s MVP award winner (Most Valuable Puppy) Nikita was a scappy little maggie who took her cue from previous MVP winners such as 2014’s high-scoring Sheepdog Ginger, 2013’s regal Beagle Marta, and of course adorable Abigail, the unrustleable Jack Russell star of Puppy Bowl IV. A stealthy little scamp, Nikita scored a fieldgoal and three touchdowns. She really made a nametag for herself with a Puppy Bowl first of scoring a touchdown without a ball — instead, she crossed the goal line with the referee’s own flag! Nikita of course never operates alone, and with a division of determined doggies like the terrific Terrier Rory, the awesome Ausie Shepherd Tucker, and of course the aptly-named Hope, Team Fluff were ready to persevere, drop their rivals down a deep hole, and make everybody say their name.

The 2017 Puppy Bowl was dedicated to the true underdogs of the canine world — the handicapped rescue pups who need special attention and deserve extra love. They say that a dog is man’s best friend, but it was the mutual friendship and care of supportive pet parents that gave a chance to pups like three-legged wonderdog Lucky. This year’s Kitty Half-Time show featured a performance from The Rock Cats and the little mouser herself, Kitty Gaga.

Final Score: 93 to 38, and the Team Fluff ‘Yellow Yellers’ are the Puppy Bowl Lombarki Trophy winners for the first time in Puppy Bowl history.

Each and every one of these canine competitors left it all on the field. And in the end, no pup was left out in the cold, as Animal Planet found adoptive parents for the stars of the event. Puppy Bowl XIII was one for the Hound Hall of Fame. Stay tuned to IGN for more information on Nikita as it becomes apparent.
